New Surry Theatre
New Surry Theatre Turns 40!
We are delighted to be celebrating our 40th year of theater, a milestone we could not have reached without the extraordinary support of our community. As a thank you, we are committed to delivering an especially exceptional year of theater and numerous opportunities for anyone who is interested to get involved. Whether you have always wanted to take a class through the school, be a part of a play on stage or behind, or work on the production end of things, there is a place for you in New Surry Theatre! We are always looking for new volunteers, and anyone interested in getting involved.
Our school has begun its new semester, which will culminate in a free showcase in March. Watch the website for details; attending a showcase is a great way to see what the school is all about.
We will once again offer a summer camp from July 9-13 for ages 7 and up, which will gear towards our summer production of Oliver (although it is not required that campers participate in the show).
For information on the camp, theater school, or getting involved in any way, please email
And, as always, we offer a full season of quality productions. We have three upcoming shows that were each performed within the past 40 years at least once. We will be celebrating our 40th at each show with photos and other memorabilia from past performances of the show, and we invite you to take place in these special celebrations.
These upcoming shows are:
Man of La Mancha
(March 30 & 31, 7pm, April 1, 3pm, April 12-14, 7pm, April 15, 3pm, April 19-21, 7PM)
Directed by Shari John
Musical Direction by Scott Cleveland
Cervantes and his manservant have been imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition, and a manuscript by Cervantes is seized by his fellow inmates, who subject him to a mock trial in order to determine whether the manuscript should be returned. This six hundred year old story continues to be as timely today as it was when written.
Steel Magnolias
(June 8-10, 14-16 and 22-23)
Directed by Dindy Royster
A humorous, but poignant, look at the tapestry of the lives of six southern women – a play (quite astonishingly) written by a man.
Oliver
(July 27-August 18)
Directed by Rebecca Poole
The New Surry Theatre is offering a DVD of their production of Bill Raiten’s “FROM BROOKLYN TO BROADWAY”
